Yet Another Use for Duct Tape

Wha wha wha?

I am completely sick with what I think is a nasty cold. This has screwed up all my plans for the weekend but that's ok. I have a fever so I thought I would take a hot shower. This increased my fever. Now I believe I may be on the back side of it as I'm getting very sweaty. Now I will make a latte. This post is action packed! That doctor looks suspicious.

It's Gettin' Smoky in Here

In honor of the weather finally breaking, I submit to you a most burnt jam. The title tells you all you need to know about how much planning was involved.

Started another song today after much wiring of the studio. I'll post some pics and gear info soon.

Regarding the site reversion, I accidentally screwed up the original index and lost it. This is one that I had and coincidentally I prefer it.

Say a Prayer

It would be cool if you took about 5 seconds and wished 3 year old Gavyn Chondit the strength to beat his cancer.

Good one there guv'nah

Big thanks for all the responses! Interestingly, most people would like to hear some stuff as long as it didn't give away too much of the final release. Also a lot of suggestions for things that aren't on a new release but are fun to see anyway. My suspicions on peoples listening habits have been confirmed: people like entire cd's and still view them as an entire document vs a collection of unrelated elements.

An Interesting Question

I'm faced with people's desire to hear new music and my own desire to share it . Looks like a no brainer but consider these two examples. Weezer had quite an experiment during Maladroit where we just kept posting songs to see what people thought. Now, granted the songs that we had at the time were more musically selfish. It may be hard to judge, but would everyone have been better served if they heard nothing but the final recordings?

Another example is "Nothing Compares 2 U" originally by Prince and later by Sinead O'Connor who I believe did more justice to it. If I had heard the original, would I have liked her version as much? Feel free.

=w=elcome!

Saw some crazy stats for the site once Karl posted the link! To all the newcomers, hello and enjoy updates for TSG and =w= here. I'm in the process of writing songs for the next record and will have some video and audio clips up here periodically for your perusal.

While I was sleeping, someone moved Florida's climate and placed it on top of the southern portion of California. I don't know who did this but nobody here is happy about it.

Very Unusual

Pretty incredible thunderstorms out here today. It would go boom then Charlie would say, "Whus sat?" I told him it was thunder and he seemed fine with it. That picture is not an authentic representation of what happened here today.

Non gearheads eyes will now glaze over. Chevelle problem = vapor lock. Going to insulate the fuel lines in the engine compartment and see how that goes.

I want to make a record that is easy to listen to. So much of today's music has about 3db of dynamic range for the whole cd. THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF EVERY INSTRUMENT SHOUTING FOR THE ENTIRE CD. WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK WITH SOMEONE WHO SHOUTED WHENEVER YOU SPOKE WITH THEM? Sure, it would be fun for a minute. But after 3 minutes you've had enough. Forever. Now you know a big reason why sales are down in my humble opinion.

Oh, and everyone's a whiny beeach. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa.

To the =w= fans

What is up with all the crazy bad journalism drawn from Rivers interview? I can assure you that =w= is fully intact. I know this because I am in Weezer. The glaring proof that today's media is shallow reveals itself in this simple fact: not one person called me to ask my opinion. Which is cool cuz I would have made up some fantastic lie about becoming an Antarctic explorer.

Switching gears, it's very hot here today. 106 in the shade! My twin electric Spal fans in the Chevelle kept it wicked cool until something took a holiday and then the car died. I laugh in the face of these problems and they are no match for my guile and general spirit.

New Song

Started a new song today and I'm very excited. My niece is visiting for the summer, she's 17 and for a minute I got all parental on her about life and blahblahblah. Then I thought about my boy and what good things we have that I hope rub off on him.

All the new songs have started this way rather than the old songs which were finished musically and then words placed on top at the end of the process. Which was lame.

myspace?

Hah, I tried to open a MySpace account for TSG today but someone already had one. It was cool, they had the demo version of Life Goes By up. Those demos were the best thing we ever did!

So I tried to contact the owner of that account but it hasn't been updated since 2005 so maybe they bailed. My Space is wack. No offence to wack people.

Wha Wha Wha?!?!?!

Crazy ass electrical storm last night. It seemed like the lightning was nonstop with giant thunder, pretty unusual to have a monsoon-like system get this far west.
Charlie now does not get a night-night bottle, he's getting so big!

Yeah, but it's a dry heat

It's hot. My 19 month old son says so, although any deviation from ambient temperature qualifies as "hot" to him. He's rad.
Floated on the lake today, it was beautiful. Thought about songs and how to play them and what to say and what not to say and blah blah blah.

Coors Light is tricky

We here at TSG certainly recommend against daily alcohol usage but to each his/her own. Nonetheless, I propose changing the name of Coors Light to "Magic Buzz Water" which is far catchier and more descriptive. I'm not even sure that it dehydrates you. Of course someone is going to market "Magic Buzz Water" at some point but remember you heard it here first.

I think I already broke the "post every day" promise so let's make a rule that I can make those up. Ok, cool.

Wha Wha Wha?

From the Totally Unrelated to Music department, my frickin' electric bill was $960 last month. I put a call into the local solar power people and it looks like we're going for a full-on system. It's been wicked hot in SoCal this season and SoCal Edison is stickin' it to me.
We get more than 300 days of big sun here per year so I think that should allow me to chill the house nicely!
Update: Insanely expensive for a system that can handle 4000 kWh a month. Good thing we have a pool.

Hi!

Ummmm,

Much going on.
I had a brief moment of insanity (or clarity) when I decided to sell the Malibu. I have 3 songs and more on the way. This site may or may not be redesigned.
Life is short my friends, we must seize the day!
I make a solemn promise to you that I will update every day no matter what.
